VQHYA will be hosting an open horse show, July 5, at Pond Hill Stables in Castleton, VT. The show will be affiliated with Vermont Horse Shows Association and Vermont Stockhorse Association and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Vermont Food Bank. Youth members won't be showing at this event but will be announcing, running ribbons, selling food, helping out in the office and anything else that's needed. Come and support this great fundraiser and community service event.

Yankee Classic Results

The 2009 Yankee classic was a successful show. Entries were up considerably from last year and the non-pro payback classes were a hit. Although the trainer's showmanship challenge was altered to allow anyone compete it was just as, or even more so, successful than it was last year. Bob Drake of Bob Drake Preformance Horses won the showmanship challenge as "Mimi" and was a huge hit along with many of the other questionable contestants. Bob donated all of his earnings back to the youth group, as did some of the bidders and other entrants. Special thanks to Ted and Blair Cummings, Brad Giroux, Glenn Kauppila, Eugine LaBrie, and Brucie Donahue for their donations back to VQHYA.

Youth champion was Kaitlyn Wadman and Reserve Youth champion was Allegra Walters.

Novice Youth champion was Isabelle Owens and Reserve Novice Youth champion was Leah Thomas.
